Some people ask me if I can help them with their writing. If they are working on a memoir, I most often point them to the memoir classes I teach at Writing Pad. If you are serious about your work as a writer, I am open to discussing the possibly of working with you in a variety of ways.
Here are four ways that we can work together:
Developmental Editing/Book Midwifery
I help you take your ideas and/or rough draft and shape it into a powerful, coherent narrative. You do most of the writing and I am there to guide you toward your most enduring themes, find your cliffhangers, edit you for clarity and concision, help you with structure and pacing, and generally keep you on track. We can either work one chapter at a time, or I can edit your full draft.
Essay Doctor
Do you have an essay that keeps being rejected on submission? Or a chapter from your memoir-in-progress that you want to convert into a standalone piece? I can help you downsize it, expand it, reshape and re-think it into a finished piece of writing that is compelling and demands to be published.
Book Doctor
Is your manuscript compulsively readable and engaging from page one to the final paragraph? Something about its structure that isn’t quite working?
Ghostwriting/Book Collaboration
Do you have a story you need to tell, but you don’t have the time or know-how to write it? I can bring your story to life for you. Through interviews with you and others in your story, I will research and craft a fully-constructed narrative that not only sounds like you, but that tells your story exactly the way you want it to be told.
If you have a project you’d like to discuss collaborating on, head over to my contact page and drop me a note.
